Lake Michigan fishing forecast for southeast Wisconsin


Reports based on personal observations and angler reports from the past three years.  Please comment or share information.
Cleveland
:
Cleveland ramp:  Over the past few years during early June there was usually little or no effort, but when there has been effort the action is usually decent.  Chinook salmon, Coho salmon and lake trout have been caught.  Most of the fish were caught in 35-100 feet of water, from 25 to 50 feet down.  Fish were caught with spoons and flies on dipsy divers and downriggers.  Conditions: air temperature was in the high 50’s to mid 60’s, skies were cloudy, there were light winds to the north/northwest and water surface temperatures were in the high 40’s and low 50’s.

Sheboygan:
Ramp:  Over the past few years during early June there was typically a moderate amount of effort with decent action.  Chinook salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout and lake trout have been caught.  Most of the fish were caught in 60-180 feet of water, from the surface to 100 feet down.  Fish were caught with spoons and flasher/dodger flies on planar boards, lead core, dipsy divers and downriggers.  The best action seems to occur during the couple of hours before sunrise.  Last year the action was very good with Coho salmon making up most of the catch.  Landings came in 200 to 350 feet of water on flasher/dodger flies and spoons.  Conditions: air temperature was in the high 50’s to mid 60’s, skies were cloudy, there were light winds in a variety of directions and water surface temperature ranged from the high 30’s to low 50’s.
Pier:  Over the past few years during early June there was typically light effort on the piers with no action, but under certain conditions there have been slow days.  Chinook salmon and rainbow trout have been caught from the north pier on alewives and spoons at dusk.  Conditions:  Water color was blue green with moderate clarity, there was light to moderate wave action, air temperature in the high 50’s to mid 60’s, skies were cloudy, there was a moderate wind to the north/northwest and there were alewives present along the pier.  Rainbow trout, a Chinook salmon, a lake trout and an undersized brown trout have been caught from the south pier on alewives and spoons during the morning hours.  Conditions:  Water temperature was 56-58° F, water color was blue green with moderate clarity, there was no wave action, air temperature in the high 50’s to low 60’s, skies were cloudy, there was a light wind to the south and there were alewives present along the pier. 
Shore:  Over the past few years during early June there was usually little or no effort and no action to report.
Edgewater power plant:  Over the past few years during early June there was usually no effort.

Cedar Grove:
Amsterdam Road
ramp: Over the past few years during early June there was little or no effort and no action to report.

Port Washington:
Ramp:  Over the past few years during early June there was usually a moderate amount of effort from the ramp with decent action.  Chinook salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout and lake trout are caught regularly; a lake whitefish was once caught during this week.  Most of the fish were caught in 65-150 feet of water, from the surface to the bottom.  Some fish have been caught as far out as 280 feet of water.  Fish were caught with spoons, flasher/dodger flies and a squid lure on planar boards, dipsy divers and downriggers.  Last year there was strong effort and the action was very good with Coho salmon making up most of the catch.  Landings came in 200 to 300 feet of water on flasher/dodger flies.  Conditions:  air temperature was in the high 50’s to mid 60’s, skies were partly cloudy to overcast, there were light winds in a variety of directions and water surface temperature ranged from the high 30’s to low 50’s.
Pier:  Over the past few years during early June there was usually light effort on the piers with no action, but under certain conditions there have been slow days.  Chinook salmon and Coho salmon have been caught on spoons alewives, with the best action during the morning hours.  Also, undersized rainbow and brown trout have been caught.  Conditions:  Water temperature was 56-58° F, water color was blue green with moderate to good clarity, there was light wave action, air temperature was in the high 50’s to mid 60’s skies were cloudy, there was a moderate wind to the northwest and there were alewives present along the pier.
Power plant:  Over the past few years during early June there was usually light effort in the area with no action but there is an occasional slow day.  A rainbow has been caught on a spawn sack and a brown trout has come on a fly.  Conditions:  Water color was blue green with moderate to good clarity, air temperature was in the mid 60’s, skies were cloudy or partly cloudy and there was a light wind to the northeast or northwest.
Harbor:  Over the past few years during early June there was usually little or no effort in the area with little action.  Rock bass and smallmouth bass have been caught on jigs throughout the afternoon.  Conditions:  Water color was blue green with moderate clarity, air temperature was in the mid 60’s, skies were cloudy and there was a moderate wind to the northwest.
