This week in recent fishing history

In Port Washington, usually moderate effort from the ramp and light effort from shore.  There usually has been decent to exceptional action from the boats and some action from shore.  In Sheboygan, usually moderate effort from the ramp and light effort from the pier.  The action is usually decent for boats and there has been some action for pier anglers.
Reports based on personal observations and angler reports from the past three years.  Please comment or share information.
Port Washington
Ramp:  Coho action has been pretty hot lately and should continue this week given the conditions; the Coho are getting caught in the top 50 feet or so in 125 to 250 feet of water and orange 00 dodgers have been hitting consistently.  There is typically a moderate amount of effort from the ramp with decent to exceptional action.  Chinook, Coho, rainbows and lake trout are caught regularly; a brown trout was once caught during this week.  Most of the fish were caught in 70-160 feet of water, from the surface to 105 feet down.  Some fish have been caught as far out as 280-350 feet of water.  Fish were caught with spoons and dodger flies on planar boards, dipsy divers and downriggers.  Conditions:  air temperature was in the high 50’s to low 70’s, skies were partly cloudy to overcast, there were light winds in a variety of directions and water surface temperature ranged from the low 40’s to low 60’s.
Pier:  There has been some Coho action along the pier that should continue this week; they have been hitting alewives and spoons.  There is typically light effort on the piers with very little action.  Rock bass have been caught on worms.  Conditions:  Water color was blue green with moderate to good clarity, there was light wave action, air temperature was in the high 60’s to low 70’s skies were partly cloudy, there was a moderate wind to the east and south.

Power plant:  Coho along with brown trout have been caught in the area on spawn sacks and spoons and are likely to still be in the area.  There is typically light effort in the area with little action.  Brown trout have been caught on spawn sacks and carp have come on carp bait.  Conditions:  Water color was blue green with moderate to good clarity, air temperature was in the high 50’s to low 70’s, skies were overcast with some rain and there was a light wind to the south or no wind.

Marina:  There is typically light effort in the area with little action.  Bluegill and undersized trout have been caught on worms.  Conditions:  air temperature was in the high 60’s and 70’s, skies were partly cloudy; there was a light wind to the south

Cedar Grove:
Amsterdam Road
ramp: Little or no effort and no action to report.

Sheboygan
Ramp:  Coho action has been hot lately with a lot of boats reporting limits; fish are coming from right in front of the harbor to 300 feet of water in the top 50 feet on orange, red or silver 00 dodgers with a variety of flies.  There is typically a moderate amount of effort from the ramp with decent action.  Chinook, Coho, rainbows, lake trout, brown trout and lake whitefish have been caught.  Fish were caught in 60-300 feet of water, from the surface to 200 feet down.  Fish were caught with spoons, flasher/dodger flies and j-plugs on planar boards, dipsy divers and downriggers.  Conditions: air temperature was in the low 60’s to low 70’s, skies were partly sunny and partly cloudy, there were light winds in a variety of directions and water surface temperature ranged from the mid 40’s to low 60’s.

Pier:  Coho and Chinook are in the area but the action has been slow; with alewives present along the pier, the fish should remain in the area.  There is typically light to moderate effort on the piers with some action.  Chinook, rainbows and lake whitefish have been caught on alewives and spoons throughout the morning and afternoon.  Conditions:  Water temperature was 58° F, water color was blue green with moderate to good clarity, air temperature in the high 50’s to low 70’s, skies were cloudy to mostly sunny, there was a light wind in a variety of directions and there were alewives present along the pier.

Shore:  There is usually little or no effort and no action to report.

Edgewater power plant:  There is usually no effort.

Cleveland:
Cleveland ramp:  Usually little or no effort and no action to report.
