This week in recent fishing history

In Port Washington, usually light to moderate effort from the ramp and light effort from shore.  There usually has been decent to exceptional action from the boats and a little action from shore.  In Sheboygan, usually moderate effort from the ramp, light to moderate effort from the piers and little effort elsewhere.  The action is usually slow for boats and there has been some action for pier anglers.
Reports based on personal observations and angler reports from the past three years.  Please comment or share information.
Port Washington:
Ramp:  Coho action has been hot lately with many limit catches reported.  Chinook, rainbows and lake trout are also getting caught.  The westerly winds predicted for the middle of the week should keep the fish around but messy weather may cause some issues.  The Coho are getting caught in the top 40 feet or so in 125 to 300 feet of water (200-260 seems to provide the best action) and orange 00 dodgers and blue green gold peanut flies have been the favorite but lots of colors are working and most set-ups (planar boards, dipsies, weapons and downriggers) are working.
Over the past few years, there has typically been light to moderate effort from the ramp with decent to exceptional action.  Chinook, Coho, rainbows and lake trout are caught regularly; a brown trout was once caught during this week.  Fish have been all over the place from 35 feet of water to 350 feet of water from the surface to 80 feet down.  Most fish were caught with spoons and flasher/dodger flies on planar boards, dipsy divers and downriggers.  Conditions:  air temperature was in the mid 60’s to low 80’s, skies were mostly sunny to overcast, there were light winds in a variety of directions but winds to the east provided the best days and water surface temperature ranged from the low 50’s to low 60’s.
Pier:  There is typically light effort on the piers with a little action.  Rainbow trout, Chinook salmon and a brown trout have been caught off the lakeside of the pier; conditions: 54-58° F, blue green with moderate to good clarity.  A brown trout has been caught off the harbor side of the pier. Blue gills and rock bass have been caught on jigs.
Power plant:  There is typically light effort in the area with very little action.  Brown trout have been caught on spawn sacks; conditions:  Water color was blue green with moderate clarity, air temperature was in the mid 70’s, skies were mostly sunny and there was a light wind to the east.  Carp have also been caught.
Marina:  There is typically little effort in the area with no action.  Smallmouth bass have been caught on tube baits.

Cedar Grove:
Amsterdam Road
ramp: Little or no effort and no action to report.

Sheboygan
Ramp:  Coho action has been hot lately with many boats reporting limits, but rainbows, lake trout and Chinook are also getting caught; rain and thunderstorms may damper efforts but the action should continue this week.  Fish are coming in 120 to 300 feet of water with Coho and rainbows in the top 30 feet and Chinook in the top 100.  Orange 00 dodgers with a variety of flies have been working well but almost any dodger/flasher fly combinations seem to be working.
Over the past few years, there has typically been a moderate amount of effort from the ramp but action has been slow.  Chinook, Coho, rainbows, and lake trout have been caught.  Fish have been all over the place from 35 to 300 feet of water from the surface to 50 feet down.  Fish were caught with spoons, flasher/dodger flies and j-plugs on planar boards, leadcore, dipsy divers and downriggers.  Conditions: air temperature was in the mid 70’s to low 80’s, skies were mostly sunny to cloudy, there were light winds in a variety of directions and water surface temperature ranged from the low 50’s to mid 60’s.

Pier:  Lots of alewives present along the pier, so the fish should remain in the area but an ample supply of bait may make the bite tough.
There is typically light to moderate effort on the piers with some action.  Chinook, Coho, rainbows, brown trout and lake whitefish have been caught on alewives and spoons off the lakeside of the piers; conditions: Water temperature was 54-56° F, water color was blue green with moderate to good clarity, air temperature in the mid 70’s, skies were cloudy, there was a light wind to the south.  On the harbor side, brown trout have been caught on spoons and northern pike and a freshwater drum have been caught with a rapala shad; conditions: Water temperature was 62-64° F, water color was brown with low clarity, air temperature in the low 80’s, skies were partly cloudy, there was a light wind to the north

Shore:  There is usually little or no effort and no action to report.

Edgewater power plant:  There is usually no effort.

Cleveland:
Cleveland ramp:  Usually light effort and no action to report.
