In Port Washington , usually light to moderate effort from the ramp and shore and the action is usually slow. In Sheboygan , usually moderate effort from the ramp and moderate to strong effort from the piers. The action has usually been slow from the boats but there has been decent action from shore.
Reports based on personal observations and angler reports from the past three years. Please comment or share information.
Ramp: Chinook are starting to make up most of the action but Coho, rainbows and lake trout are also getting caught. The action is still good with some anglers catching limits but fishing is not as good as it was a few weeks ago. If the good weather continues, catches should remain the same. The fish are getting caught in 75 to 250 feet of water. The Chinook are being caught on downriggers set 25 to 120 feet down with flasher fly combinations, bullfrog being one of best flies. Coho and rainbows are getting caught in the top of the water column on dipsy divers set 90 to 100 feet back and planar boards with orange 00 dodgers and blue green gold peanut flies, but a variety of colors and sizes are working. Coho, rainbow and lake trout are also getting caught on down riggers, and weapons. Anglers are setting up in 75 to 100 feet of water and trolling east to west (trolling speeds 2.2-2.5 mph).
Over the past few years, there has typically been light to moderate effort and the action has been slow. Catches consist of Chinook, Coho, rainbows and lake trout. Fish are commonly caught throughout the water column in 70 to 150 feet of water. Fish were caught with spoons, flasher/dodger flies and j-plugs on downriggers, dipsy divers, planar boards and leadcore. Conditions: Air temperature was in the high 60’s to low 80’s, skies were partly cloudy, there were light winds and water surface temperature was high 50’s to low 60’s.
Pier: Over the past few years, there has typically been moderate effort and a little action. Chinook and Coho have been caught off the end of the pier on alewives in the morning and early afternoon; conditions: Water temperature was 44-46° F, water color was blue green with good clarity; air temperature was in the high 60’s to low 70’s, skies were overcast and rainy, there light were winds to the north.
Power plant: There is typically light effort in the area with a little action. Brown trout have been caught on spawn sacks; conditions: Water color was blue green with low to moderate clarity, air temperature was in the high 60’s to low 70’s, skies were partly cloudy and there were light winds to the south.
Cedar Grove:
Ramp: There was action to report over the past week, but the action has been sporadic with some anglers reporting limits and other reporting skunks. Storms and inconsistent winds predicted for this week probably won’t help. Coho and Chinook are making up most of the action but rainbows and lake trout are also getting caught. Most fish are getting caught in 70 to 180 feet of water; Coho and rainbows are in the top of the water column and Chinook and are coming down deeper. Dodger/flasher flies have been commonly reported but spoons and plugs have been working. Most set-ups have been working (planar boards, copper, leadcore, dipsy/slide divers and downriggers). Reports have been erratic so experiment with presentations and set-up to see what is working; trolling speeds should be approximately 2.2 to 2.7 mph.
Over the past few years, there has typically been moderate effort and the action has typically been slow except for the last year, which saw good action. Chinook, Coho, rainbows, lake trout and brown trout have been caught. Most fish were caught in 30 to 130 feet of water but fish have been caught as far out as 200 feet of water. Most fish were caught from the top 60 feet of water but some fish were also off the bottom. Fish were caught with spoons, flasher/dodger flies and j-plugs on downriggers, dipsy divers, planar boards and leadcore. Conditions: Air temperature was in the high 60’s to mid 70’s, skies were partly cloudy to overcast with some rain, there were light winds in a variety of directions and water surface temperatures were in the high 50’s and low 60’s.
Pier: Over the past few years, there has typically been moderate to strong effort and the action is usually decent to good. Chinook, Coho, rainbow trout, lake trout and brown trout have been caught off both piers, mostly on alewives but also on spoons. Conditions: Water temperatures were in the high 50’s to low 60’s, water color was blue green with moderate to good clarity; air temperature was in the high 60’s to low 80’s, skies were partly cloudy to overcast and rainy, there were light winds in a variety of directions.
Shore: There is usually little to no effort and very little action. A Chinook salmon has been caught off the north point by an angler casting spoons. Conditions: Air temperature was in the low 70’s, skies were overcast with occasional rain and there was a light wind to the north.
Edgewater power plant: There is usually little or no effort and no action to report
