Lake Michigan fishing report for southeast Wisconsin

Reports based on personal observations and angler reports from the past three years.  Please comment or share information.

Cleveland:
Cleveland ramp:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was usually very little or no effort.

Sheboygan:
Ramp:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was moderate fishing effort and the action has usually been slow with an occasional exceptional day.  Chinook salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout and lake trout were caught from 40 to 60 feet down in 30 to 250 feet of water with flasher/dodger flies and spoons on planar boards, dipsy divers and downriggers.  Conditions:  water temperatures was in the high 40’s and low 50’s, air temperatures in the 60’s, skies were clear and there have been light winds.
Pier:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was moderate fishing effort and there is usually some action.  Chinook salmon and Coho salmon have been caught on spoons and alewives.  Chinook salmon have been caught off the lakeside of the north pier on alewives.  Small trout have been caught off the lake side of both piers on spinners.  Conditions:  water temperatures were in the mid 50’s and low 60’s, water color was light brown with little or no clarity or blue green with moderate to good clarity, air temperature was in the 60’s to low 70’s, skies were clear or cloudy and there was a variety of wind conditions, many alewives were observed around pier.
Shore:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was usually very little effort but brown trout have been caught and small trout have been caught from the piers just north of Edgewater power plant on worms.
Edgewater power plant:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was usually very little effort but small brown trout have been caught on worms and carp have been caught on spoons or bow and arrow.

Cedar Grove:
Amsterdam Road
ramp: Over the past few years during late May/early June there was little or no effort and no action to report.

Port Washington
Ramp:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was moderate fishing effort and usually exceptional action.  Chinook salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout, lake trout and a lake whitefish were caught in 50 to 300 feet of water with flasher/dodger flies, spoons and j-plugs on planar boards, dipsy divers and downriggers.  Fish were generally scattered throughout the water column.  Noted colors were green and orange.  A brown trout was also caught in the harbor on spoon.  Last year was particularly good for Coho salmon.  Conditions:  water temperatures were in the high 40’s and low 50’s, air temperatures were in the high 50’s to low 70’s, skies were overcast and there were light winds to the east or southeast.
Pier:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was usually light effort with little action.  Coho salmon have been caught on spoons and alewives.  Conditions: water temperature was 58° F and the water was clear.
Power plant:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was light effort and there has been some action.  Brown trout, rainbow trout and Coho salmon have been caught on spawn and spoons.  Recently stocked brown trout have also been caught.  Conditions:  water temperature was approximately 60° F, water was blue green with moderate clarity, air temperatures in the mid 60’s, skies were clear and there were light winds.
Harbor:  Over the past few years during late May/early June there was very little effort and no action.

Milwaukee
McKinley ramp:  Last year during late May/early June anglers have been successful fishing for Coho salmon in 20 to 60 feet of water with flashers and flies in purple, blue or green.
McKinley pier:  Last year during late May/early June some salmon have been caught on blue and silver or green and silver spoons and alewives.
North shore:  Last year during late May/early June there was an occasional brown trout caught behind the Summerfest grounds.
Bender Park ramp:  Last year during late May/early June Coho salmon were caught around the boils.
